Brian Spitz

Brian Spitz the winner of the New England PGA Stoke Play Series Championship

The New England PGA Stroke Play Series Championship was played at Turner Hill Golf Club in Ipswich, MA. This year’s field was packed with great talent with the 2013 New England PGA Champion Shawn Warren, the 2013 New England PGA Assistant’s Champion Jeff Seavey, and the 2013 New England PGA Stroke Play Series Point Leader Boomer Erick. Even with a tough field it didnt stop Brian Spitz who had a disappointing season by his standards but turned it all  around by his performance at Turner Hill. Spitz began his front nine with 3 pars, he then followed with 3 birdies on his next three holes. After a par on the 7th hole, Spitz would finish with 2 more birdies to close out his front nine with a 5- under par round of (31). He would birdie three more holes on his back nine to finish his spectacular round at 8-under par (64). Brian would take the New England PGA Stroke Play Series Trophy and the Turner Hill course record. It was Spitz’s first victory of the year and his first in the Stroke Play Series. The second and third place wins were not too far behind but could not keep up with Brian’s amazing round. Shawn Warren who played very well, finished in 2nd place with a 5-under par round (67).  The third place winner Boomer Erick, finished with a 2-under par round of (70). This outstanding display was all played at the beautiful Turner Hill Golf Club, a great way to end the season.
